Golf
Equipment Guide
To
navigate a golf course a golfer will need
different pieces of equipment. This section
is a guide to what each piece of equipment
does, when it is used and the choices available
when you go to fill your own golf bag. |

Drivers
You step up to the tee and more than
likely you will select your driver,
sometimes referred to as a 1-wood, out
of your golf bag or your caddy without
even asking will hand it to you. Why
is the driver the first golf club used?

Iron
Sets
In every golf bag, you will find an
iron set. In a standard set of irons
you will find 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 irons
and the Pitching Wedge. Not every one
agrees but irons are usually classified
into short irons, mid irons, and long
irons. |

Fairway
Woods
The 3 wood and 5 wood are the original
woods considered Fairway Woods but today
many more woods once called utility
woods are being seen more often on the
fairway. |

Wedges
Wedges are part of the iron set; however,
they serve a different purpose. Most
wedges have a loft that is higher than
44 degrees. There are four major wedges
in the set, which include the pitching
wedge sometimes referred to as a 10
iron, sand wedge, gap wedge and a lob
wedge. |

Putters
The putter is the golf club that you
will use the most. On average, it takes
about two puts on the green to sink
the ball and for beginners it may take
several. There are several types of
putters on the market today; however,
the most popular include Blades, Mallets,
Perimeter Weighted, Insert, and Offset.
